Pics of my 70th

Just thought I'd go ahead and put on a few pics of my 70th birthday before too much time elapsed. I made pictures all day on my 60th birthday as well when I was still in Tennessee. I can't put very many on here, but for those who are also on Facebook, you'll remember that I had a wonderful day from the very beginning. The pics tell the story of my day at home. I made a Quiche Lorraine (which has bacon, onion, cheese and eggs), fresh cherries, and coffee. The dishes you see are Royal Worcester's Evesham bought for me by Paula & family for Christmas one year. I LOVE china and would have several more sets if I had some place to put them. When I moved to this house, Steve (Lisa's husband) asked why her mother had so many dishes! But he was kind enough to give me another set this past Christmas because I wanted some new dishes to use every day. When Jamie was here, she only used the Evesham, which lets me know that we share a love of beautiful china.

The other pics are of my jacuzzi tub just before I got in it to soak. The TV set shows that Le Tour de France was on and I didn't want to miss it. The scenery was soooo beautiful! And I think it was one of my favorite Tours, though I was pulling for Andy Schleck to win...he almost did. A mechanical mishap cost him the whole race, I'm pretty sure!

In the evening, I went to Lisa's house for dinner and a movie. We watched a long version of "Little Women" and had spaghetti and pizza--really good. Then Lisa, Quinlyn, Michael and I had cake. (Steve was working in Clovis.) And I opened my gifts, which were all very nice.
My girls--Paula, Lisa and Donna--went in together and got me a set of cookware, which is very beautiful, and I love cooking in it. Lisa & Steve got me a beautiful tennis necklace and earrings to match. I don't have any of those pics, but Quinlyn took some and has them at her house. The pic that is now on my profile was made on my birthday. And she took one of me shooting a basketball, and I have to tell you that I made the shot! Quinlyn & Michael gave me a beautiful Irish Beleek porcelain dish with lid, which has a grandmother poem on it, and a jumper for one of my dolls. Phillip & Jon sent money for me to spend any way I like, and I think I'm going to buy a web cam. Also I'm pleased to say that Ray & Jill and Paul & Sarah are sending gifts even as I speak. I really like stretching out my birthday.

There are so many people, especially women, who don't want to tell how old they are, but I don't feel that way. I know that I am invisible to some people, but I'm so pleased to have made it this far and this long that it doesn't bother me anymore. I say anymore because at first it did bother me. But I decided to celebrate my age and my life, and as I said in my introduction: I want to make the next 10 years of my life the very best years of my life! I thank all of my family for loving me so much!

And I almost forgot to say thanks to everyone who sent me a birthday card. All my cards came days before my birthday, and I sat them on a table in the living room for a couple of weeks--again, stretching out the pleasure.
It was a very Special Birthday!

Blessings...Mimi

  1. The hit counter shows a lot of people are reading your blog, Mimi! I'm glad you had such a nice day, you deserve it! I've always told people my age for various reasons, sometimes just because I can't believe I'm really that old! I am 73, with a birthday in October!!! So, you can understand what I mean. Love you, Anna

  2. Yes, Anna, I certainly do understand what you mean. You're so youthful in your thinking and interests that age doesn't come into my thinking about you. Thank you for commenting and encouraging me. I've been given some hints about the fact that I'm writing too much and a few other things, so I'm trying to learn and adjust. I may start a different blog for my Bible studies as I'm told they don't belong on a personal blog! Wish I could see you more. I may be moving back to TN and we'll make that happen. Love you too...

  6. Ray, I'm not sure all the people who are hitting on my blog are reading it, but it's keeping my confidence going at least. What do you think about my having a Bible blog as well?
I set one up this morning called "Bible Memos From Mimi" but haven't put anything on it yet. I could put something on both if you prefer. I could put a link from one to the other, or is that too much? I'm not sure what to do about it.
Let me hear what you think. I look forward to getting your gift!

  9. Hey Jon! Yes, I hope it's OK with you and Phil to get a web cam. I experienced one for the first time this week and think it would be so nice to have if I move to TN. I can talk to all of you and see you at the same time. Of course, you also have to look at me. :o) So thanks again for thinking of me on my birthday.
